7 Steps To Maintain Your Chevy’s Reliability

Step 1: Service Your Tires

Neglected tires harm the suspension, diminish handling, and can cause a crash. The air pressure inside each tire must be kept at the right PSI with monthly checks. You’ll also need to rotate and align your tires at least every six months to correct mismatched tread wear and alignment issues.

Step 2: Change Your Oil

Your engine won’t last without proper lubrication. For reliably efficient power output, you must change your motor oil twice a year or even more frequently. Use the best quality oil as recommended by your owner’s manual or one of our technicians, to optimize your engine’s longevity. Also, make sure the oil filter is replaced regularly. 

Step 3: Check Your Coolant

Coolant is just as important as motor oil for engine upkeep. As coolant circulates through the engine and radiator, it disperses heat, which protects your engine from overheating. In many vehicles, the cooling system also helps control temperatures inside the transmission. 

Flush your coolant every two years or as soon as it starts to degrade. Also, have your entire cooling system professionally inspected once a year. 

Step 4: Change Your Air Filters

Your engine will misfire and could undergo damage if the inflow of air becomes blocked by an aging air filter. Keep an eye on both your engine and cabin air filters with regular checks, and have each one replaced once a year or so.

Step 5: Inspect Your Brakes

To keep your brakes strong and dependable, have a qualified technician inspect them twice a year. The brake lines need to be searched for leaks. The brake pads, rotors, and fluid must be replaced or flushed before they grow too old and worn out. 

Step 6: Test Your Battery

Electricity flows from the battery throughout your car; the starter, spark plugs, headlights, dashboard dials, and many other components depend on the battery. Keep your battery reliable and strong by having it tested once a year and replaced as soon as it shows signs of age.

Step 7: Set Up a Maintenance Schedule

It’s unwise to depend on memory alone for car maintenance. Despite having the best intentions, you’re likely to forget or put off an important service at some point, which means premature wear and a less reliable car. Instead, arrange a suitable service timetable and hold to it as though your car’s life depends on it, which it does.
