Here in Frederic, WI, we have a really delicious spot for the most important meal of the day, and with the new Chevrolet Trax, there are also some great spots just a short drive away. more Tin Shed Cafe At 101 Oak St. W., this café is serving up the best breakfast anywhere. They open at 6:30 AM on the weekends and close by 11 AM, so you know that breakfast is their specialty. During the week, they are open from 7 AM until 2 PM except for Tuesdays, when they are closed. Expect excellent service, wonderful prices, and tasty food served by people who really care that you have a great experience at their restaurant. If you have a big appetite, we recommend that you go for the steak and eggs or the Texas Takedown, which is two pieces of Texas French toast with two sausage links or two slices of bacon and an egg. The Tin Shed Sandwich is also amazing. It's a toasted ciabatta with scrambled eggs, ham, bacon, or a sausage patty, topped with cheese and Sriracha aïoli. Try their "Bean's Recipe" Swedish pancake, too. You also don't want to miss their caramel rolls. The Main Dish Hop on down to 219 Main St. S. in Luck to visit this great spot anytime after 7 AM from Tuesday through Sunday. They close at 2 PM, and you can also get a good lunch here, but their breakfast is where it's at. This is a great small-town dining experience with home-cooked food, old-fashioned friendly service, and coffee that never stops coming. Their specialty here is their buttermilk pancakes, which we recommend you get with her perfectly cooked bacon. They also do a nice breakfast bake that is scrambled eggs with ham, green peppers, onion, tomato, mushrooms, and cheddar cheese. They do a fabulous hot croissant sandwich with ham and cheese. And the Jason is also very good: that's a biscuit with an over-easy egg, sausage, and American cheese, smothered over with their delicious sausage gravy. Gary's Rude Café This fun place lives at 7709 West Main St. in siren, just a little north of us. They open up at 7 AM every morning, so this is a spot you can head to on Tuesday when our local breakfast spot is closed. Just be aware that they get really busy by 9 o'clock, so get there early for breakfast if you want a leisurely time and a quiet spot to enjoy your meal. Try their delicious steak and eggs, which comes with hashbrowns and toast. They also do an incredible Stacker with hashbrowns, eggs, cheese, and a Denver mix with toast. You should also try their Granny omelet, which is peppers, ham, onion, cheese, and hashbrowns all rolled up. Rustic Roots Winery For those who drink responsibly, Rustic Roots Winery has a tasting room where you can enjoy regional wines in a relaxed setting. The winery is located in Scandia, Minnesota, roughly 45 minutes from Frederic. The winery makes a great stop on your way back from a day of adventuring, or consider it to be a destination in and of itself. Another favorite local winery is 7 Vines Vineyard in Dellwood, Minneapolis. 3. Berry Picking The Rocky Ridge Blueberry Farm, which is in Frederic, is the perfect place to spend the day picking your very own summer blueberries. This farm offers four different types of blueberries to pick from during the June and July season. If apples are your preferred fruit, head back to Frederic in September or October. Apple orchards in the area, including Baker Orchard in Centuria, Wisconsin, have an impressive array of varietals. You'll need a soundtrack for your drive out to the country, and fortunately, your Chevrolet Trailblazer LT is equipped with SiriusXM Radio. 4. Connie is a home baker, and while you'll want to go with Burnett's if you'd like the absolute top-of-the-line in terms of decorating, there is no arguing with the delicious flavors that Connie is churning out. She's also super flexible, so give her a call or message if you have a need. She'll work with you to get the order exactly the way you want it, and as quickly as possible. Nuthouse Breads Sometimes you need a break from the cake, and that's where Nuthouse Breads comes in. This is an amazing place for unusual flavors in crazy-good homemade bread. You'll find them at 24687 Anchor Inn Rd in Webster. You have to try the rye bread: it's out of this world. The cranberry wild rice bread is also super unusual (and super good). They also have savory flavors like garlic-rosemary, a nice cranberry almond, pumpkin, and a fantastic peasant bread. Balsam Lake Brick Oven Breads At 1305 160th St in St. Croix Falls, Balsam Lake Brick creates demand through scarcity: they only bake on the first and third Thursdays of the month, meaning the breads are only available on the following Fridays and Saturdays. It's first-come, first-served, so don't wait around. All the flour they use is freshly ground, all the grain is organic, there's nothing artificial in the loaves, and they hand-make every loaf. They do standards like whole wheat, cinnamon raisin, and both sweet and savory focaccia, but they also do tomato basil, and old-world rye, a raisin rye, and lots of others. Chattering Squirrel Coffee Located in the nearby town of Siren, Chattering Squirrel offers locally-made ice cream, popcorn, waffle cones, and candy. Of course, there is also quality cold-press coffee, along with a variety of specialty drinks. Food is homemade and the prices are reasonable. The atmosphere is pretty informal. There is also free Wi-Fi if you plan on doing some work inside the restaurant. Chattering Squirrel is located in a sort of "mini-mall" with small local stores. There is also a gift shop with plenty of fun things. Café Wren This women-owned bakery is in the nearby town of Luck. The menu is seasonal and the staff prepares every item from scratch, using only fresh ingredients. Café Wren is famous for vegetable soups, but there is also a good selection of sandwiches and baked goods. Coffee-based drinks are strong and tasty. The coffee shop also displays and sells local art. The décor is cared for in every detail and there is a large patio area for outdoor dining. The bakery is located near the Gandy Dancer State Trail, a popular spot for hiking. Fresh Start Coffee Roasters Fresh Start is located near an ACE hardware store in Webster. This way, you can enjoy a cup of good coffee and some snacks after shopping for your home improvement project. The coffee is roasted to order. You get to watch while the staff roasts it for you! If you don't have time to wait, you can call ahead so your coffee is ready when you arrive. The menu also includes bistro pizza, sandwiches, and wraps.
